Welcome to Surry's Moodle site. Moodle stands for Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment. This is the program Surry uses to deliver online and hybrid courses.

For help getting started with your course or logging in check out our Technical Support Tutorials and Information site.

User Accounts

Students will need to login using your Surry user account. You can verify your username and password at www.surry.edu and clicking on the KnightLife icon. In the botton right corner you will see "Account Information". Once you verify your user ID your initial password for using KnightLife, Moodle and SCC student email is your 6-digit birth date.

The Moodle login option is to the right of this message.

Once you login you will see Surry Online on the left of your page. Click the folder to see the courses you are enrolled in.

Need to Drop An Online or Hybrid Class? Check your course syllabus for the specific information. Then send an email to your instructor to request the drop. Be sure to include your name, course you want to drop and the reason for dropping. You will be notified of the status.
Accessing Library Databases Off-Campus

To access the Library Databases, you must use your SCC Network Login. If you are a new student at Surry CC, or if you have not logged into a campus computer in a previous term (Summer '09 forward), the password for your SCC Network login must first be changed. To change your login you must log on to your campus network account for the first time from a campus computer. If you do not attend a class on campus you can call the IT and Computer Services Help Desk for assistance with login information.

The University Writing Center at Appalachian State University offers free online consultation services for distance education students at all stages of the writing process. To set up an online session, call (828) 262-3144, email writingctr@appstate.edu or visit www.writingcenter.appstate.edu/appointment-request. You will find step-by-step instructions on the website. You'll need access to a computer with a high-speed or wireless internet connection; a phone number where the writing center can reach you during your session; and notes, outlines, and rough drafts to refer to during your session.

If you are using Internet Explorer and experiencing problems, perform the steps below to delete your cookies, passwords, and add Moodle to your Trusted Sites.

Internet Explorer Directions

Click on Tools, then select Internet Options.
On the General tab, delete your cookies and saved passwords, then click Close.
Click the Security tab.
Click on Trusted Sites.
When the Sites button appears, click it.
In the textbox below the "Add this website to the zone, add http://online.surry.edu.
Remove the green checkmark from the box beside Require server verification....
Click the Add button.
Click the Close button.
Click the OK button.
Close the browser window to be sure the new changes are saved.
Re-open the browser window and login in.
